Inaburra School has appointed Dr Robert Loe as its next Principal following an extensive national and international recruitment process. He will commence in the role in 2027.
The appointment follows a search conducted in partnership with Hutton Consulting Australia and a competitive selection process led by the Inaburra School Board.
Dr Loe joins Inaburra from The Scots College in Sydney, where he is currently Deputy Principal – Academics. In the role, he oversees teaching, learning and curriculum innovation, with a focus on evidence-informed practice, professional learning and continuous improvement.
He brings more than 25 years of experience in education across Australia and the United Kingdom. Before becoming Deputy Principal, Dr Loe served as Director of Research and Learning Innovation at The Scots College and previously held senior executive positions with Christian Schools Australia and the Relationships Foundation.
Earlier in his career, he worked as an Assistant Principal in England and held curriculum and faculty leadership roles while teaching and mentoring future educators through the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University.
Dr Loe holds a Double First-Class Honours degree in English Literature with Education Studies from the University of Cambridge and completed a professional doctorate examining the measurement of human relationships and its application to organisational development, classroom climate and school leadership.
He is also the founder of Relational Schools, a research organisation focused on strengthening relationships within school communities, and has authored a range of publications on educational leadership. His latest book, The Relational Leader, is scheduled for publication in 2027.
The Inaburra School Board said Dr Loe’s leadership, strategic capability and experience in governance and organisational development made him well placed to lead the school into its next phase. His previous leadership experience includes serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Relationships Foundation and Chair of the Chilford Hundred Education Trust.
An active member of St Matthias Anglican Church in Sydney, Dr Loe said he was attracted to Inaburra’s Christ-centred culture and its commitment to ensuring every student is “known and loved”. He said he looked forward to building on the school’s existing foundations while advancing its strategic priorities, including academic rigour, organisational integrity and Christian community partnerships.
Dr Loe, his wife Helen and their family will join the Inaburra community ahead of the 2027 school year. Acting Principal Chris Smith will continue leading the school during the transition, with the Board confirming further details of community welcome events will be shared later this year.
