Your Invitation to Tara Open Day 2018: Come and experience the vibrancy of our school community.
We invite you to come and experience Tara Anglican School for Girls in North Parramatta at our upcoming Open Day on Saturday 10 March 2018 from 12pm to 3pm. Join us for a rich and engaging program of events, talk with students and staff, enjoy performances, view and participate in academic and co-curricular displays and activities, and tour the Junior and Senior Schools as well as the Boarding House.
To start off your day at Tara please join us at the learning bazaar in the Tara gymnasium. Families, parents, your daughters and friends can to talk with our teachers and key academic and co-curricular staff in between tours. School and Boarding House tours will leave from the gymnasium as a central location with our student leaders and staff. Tours to the 20” telescope and dome with one of the largest privately operated telescopes in Australia will be part of the day with the Space Odyssey Team. Learn about the worldwide Global Jet Watch program in association with Oxford University as students from Years 9-11 show you the solar telescopes from the Astronomy Centre on the day.
You can watch Tara girls perform throughout the afternoon with a showcase of dance, music and drama from 12pm to 3pm. Hear the Tara students talk about school spirit, trust, teamwork and leadership skills, and have some fun! See if you would like to perform in the school musical or eisteddfods or catapult into the Tara gymnastics teams. Sport and performing arts are an integral part of life at Tara with girls who participate in co-curricular at Tara finding that they can improve academically, meet new friends and are able to develop new skills. Tour our school grounds, which include two playing fields, tennis and netball courts as well as a 25m swimming pool, gymnasium, movement room and fitness centre as well as two theatres.
The principal and president of our P&F Association will also be hosting Q&A sessions for parents at 1:30pm and 2:30pm in the Tara Theatre about why Tara is so special. Don’t forget to pick up a coffee from the Hospitality students and chat with the Tara Dads Club at the barbeque as well. Our new Uniform Shop is also open to visit on the day as well as our newly opened Tara Chapel.
Junior School
Tara’s Junior School is a wonderful place to start your daughter’s path to lifelong learning. Encompassing Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 our emphasis is on developing their all-round education. Tara girls grow both academically and socially, in an environment designed to allow each individual to flourish.
Senior School
From the boardrooms of blue-chip companies to the film industry and across the spectrum of public life, it’s no coincidence that Tara students excel after their schooling in Senior School (Years 7-12). With purpose built facilities, committed resources, an excellent academic program with links to co-curricular and student engagement programs, we would like to welcome you to tour the learning spaces of tomorrow’s leaders.
Boarding House
If you are looking for a boarding experience that is as close to living at home as possible, you have found it! Eggleton House is a boutique boarding house, located on the Tara grounds. 55 boarders from Years 5-12 come from regional areas, overseas and local students who find it easier to board than cope with Sydney traffic, with each adding their own strengths to the mix.
Scholarships
A scholarship at Tara would provide your daughter with many opportunities and experiences. On offer are Academic, All-Rounder, Means-Tested, Boarding and Music Scholarships. Tara offers scholarships to students that demonstrate excellence, combined with a high degree of personal commitment and involvement in a range of activities. Students benefit from scholarships because their particular interest and abilities are recognised and valued and are given the opportunity to flourish.
