Oxley Christian College is proud to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. Established in 1979 by Pastor Hal Oxley, the college has been dedicated to educating the whole person, by focusing on academic success and encouraging each student to develop Christ-like character. Thousands of children have been educated at Oxley and gone on to study and work in a variety of careers and professions.

The annual Open Day was held on Saturday 4 May this year. Everyone who attended enjoyed the festive atmosphere and all the wonderful displays and activities throughout the school, including a range of musical performances. Oxley also welcomed past students from graduating classes of 1979-1999 together with reunions for the graduating classes of 2009 and 2014.

The college is set on 70 acres of magnificent grounds. Over the years, the facilities have expanded to include a Sports Stadium which includes five competition sized basketball courts, a fully equipped fitness centre, multi-purpose mezzanine, teaching rooms and sports café. It is surrounded by tennis courts, cricket facilities and Oxley’s top-grade oval which is the scene of many great sports events. The Broadley Performing Arts Centre has seen many students tread the boards in a variety of drama and musical performances with productions held every year. It comprises an intimate 260 seat auditorium, music rehearsal spaces, drama studios, music technology classrooms and provision for a recording studio. The Early Learning Centre, Oxley Kids, is a state-of-the-art, purpose built centre that offers long day care, kindergarten and out-of-school-hours care. The Junior and Middle Years School buildings are currently in the planning stage to be rebuilt in the near future.

College staff are committed to an educational perspective embedded in the Christian faith. They believe that schooling always occurs within particular faith and cultural commitments and that, consequently, there is no neutral or pure form of education. Therefore, education shapes us and the ways in which we will go on to influence others. In addition, education should prepare us well for any version of the future and make us capable and compassionate participants in the world. The college’s aim is to prepare confident and articulate students with the skills, wisdom and maturity to live in the present moment while shaping the future for the common good of humanity. Embedded in the essential outcomes of a Christian education is the development of Christian character and 21st century skills training.

There is a friendliness and generosity of spirit within the Oxley community that it commends to families making enrolment enquiries. The college warmly invites you to attend one of the School at Work Information Mornings. Visit www.oxley.vic.edu.au for upcoming dates and to register your attendance.
