As the new school year gets underway, The McDonald College is already celebrating a season of standout performances on the tennis court — and it is shaping up to be an exciting year ahead.
From local tournaments to interstate competitions, The McDonald College students are making their presence felt, demonstrating skill, resilience and a passion for excellence.
Leading the charge is Audrey, whose 2026 season began in winning style. Not only did she record two major victories in Girls’ Singles Under 14 and Girls’ Doubles Under 14 in Western Australia during the January school holidays, but she has also recently claimed the Open Women’s Doubles title at the O8K Gosford Open Tennis Tournament — an outstanding achievement at open level.
A Community That Plays Together
The McDonald College’s tennis story extends well beyond current students. In January, Tristan (current student) and Sarav (Class of 2025) captured the 5K Tennis World January Classic Open Men’s Doubles, defeating fellow alumni Minhoon (Class of 2025) and Julius (Class of 2022) in a memorable final.
It was more than a match. It was a celebration of the College’s strong sporting community — one that continues to connect graduates long after they leave the classroom.
Rising Stars and New Pathways
The momentum continued at the AICES Tennis Trials, an annual selection event where students from independent schools compete for the chance to progress to the next representative level.
Eight of The McDonald College players progressed to the next stage.
Oliver claimed the boys’ title in a thrilling final, while Audrey secured the girls’ event in another impressive display.
Powered by Elite Partnerships
Behind every strong performance is strong support. The College’s partnership with Voyager Tennis provides students with access to elite coaching, personalised development and high-performance environments.
Together, The McDonald College and Voyager Tennis are helping young athletes build more than technical skill — they are developing confidence, discipline and resilience that carries into every area of life.
At The McDonald College, students are supported to balance elite training with academic study and creative pursuits, learning how to manage time, set goals and pursue excellence.
The early success of 2026 reflects this holistic approach — where students are encouraged to grow as athletes, scholars and individuals.
