The path to success: Cranbrook School scholarships

As a school, Cranbrook is committed to academic excellence, lifting levels of attainment and enriching horizons. High-calibre teachers inspire young people through the joy of wholehearted engagement with intellectual challenges and develop a life-long love of learning.

Cranbrook offers a broad, rich and distinctive education both within and beyond the curriculum. The school possesses a distinctive, and increasingly relevant, educational philosophy which reaches back to the school’s foundation. It encourages young Cranbrookians to make the most of their talents and to discover and relish the joys of intellectual commitment and academic engagement.

As a school it is important that Cranbrook equips students with the skill sets and attitudes for the 21st century. To this end, it is now a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MYP develops active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathise with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. It builds on the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed by the IP Primary Years Programme currently being delivered by Cranbrook’s Pre-schools and Cranbrook Junior School.

“The IB is founded upon principles which are entirely in keeping with our Vision and Mission statements,” says Nicholas Sampson, headmaster of Cranbrook School. “Its approach to curriculum is coherent, principled, rigorous and internationally minded. It promotes connection while respecting the character and autonomy of individual disciplines.”

Cranbrook’s 2016 boys achieved outstanding HSC results, receiving 227 merits in total, with 102 students being placed on the Distinguished Achievers List in at least one subject. The school’s 2016 boys’ remarkable achievements reflect a continued focus on academic rigour and creative excellence; Cranbrook wants to equip young men not only to win places at leading universities, but also to flourish there.

Cranbrook’s all-round ethos was reflected in the fact that many of its most successful candidates, including the Dux of the School, were not only great scholars but talented sportsmen, musicians and overall contributors to the spirit of the school.

A scholarship at Cranbrook would provide your son with many opportunities and experiences. On offer are Academic and Music Scholarships: these awards recognise talent, further potential and a positive and generous approach to school life.

Cranbrook scholarships for 2019 are now open. To learn more about the scholarships offered and apply, visit cranbrook.nsw.edu.au/enrolment/scholarships.aspx The awarding of a scholarship will be dependent upon academic results from the Cranbrook School Scholarship Examination (conducted by Academic Assessment Services), submission of supporting material and an interview. All scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the headmaster.
