Suzanne Cory High School is entering an exciting new chapter; in 2024 we are launching the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme as a senior pathway, alongside our highly successful VCE program. This is a testament to the school’s dedication to providing a world-class education that goes beyond traditional academic boundaries. The IB’s mission statement is:
“The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.” (International Baccalaureate Organisation, 2021)
In 2024, we are excited to welcome 21 inaugural students who have chosen to undertake this globally recognised accreditation, as well as our 14 experienced and trained staff who are not only enthusiastic but are also committed to teaching excellence and preparing our first cohort for a more globalised world.
The IB program, renowned for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on holistic development, aligns seamlessly with Suzanne Cory High School’s mission to nurture well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also equipped with the skills and mindset of our school’s “Renaissance Person”. The “Renaissance People” are lifelong learners, responsible and compassionate global citizens, are prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the future, and embody our school values of Respect, Contribution and Aspiration.
