St Leonard’s College – Living and Breathing Wellbeing

wellbeing

St Leonard’s College understands that your child’s wellbeing is of utmost importance to you. The College’s latest wellbeing initiatives demonstrate that it is clearly their top priority as well, as they continue to introduce programs and facilities aimed at supporting the overall health and happiness of students.

New Wellbeing Centre

St Leonard’s College unveiled its new dedicated Wellbeing Centre, designed to provide a secure and inviting environment for students. The centre boasts a meticulously crafted living green wall, enhancing air quality and reducing noise. More than just visually appealing, it fosters wellbeing by promoting calmness, reducing stress, and creating a positive, restorative space. The centre has been thoughtfully designed to offer comprehensive and adaptable support tailored to meet the unique needs of every student. Within this nurturing environment, students can access various services and programs, fostering a sense of community and connection that is essential for their overall wellbeing. With the right support, students can effectively manage stress, develop coping skills, and enhance both their academic performance and personal success.

Centralised Cross-College Counsellors

St Leonard’s counselling team has expanded in 2023, with three new members now working across multiple schools and year levels from Junior School through to Year 12. This approach empowers students to choose a counsellor they are comfortable with, ensuring a personalised and engaging experience. Additionally, this model provides continuity of support as students transition through the College, enabling their chosen counsellor to accompany them from Years 5 and 6 through to Middle School and then onto Senior School.

New Student Booking Platform

To simplify the process of accessing counselling services, St Leonard’s College has introduced an online booking system accessible via the College’s intranet – STL Link. This platform enables students to schedule appointments at their convenience, with automatic reminders sent prior to their appointments, reducing the likelihood of missed sessions. Recognising the importance of accommodating their busy schedules, this system ensures timely support.

Flexible Modes of Service

St Leonard’s Wellbeing Centre offers versatile modes of service to cater to diverse needs. In addition to traditional counselling appointments, the new space allows for brief, informal sessions where students can re-regulate before returning to class. It provides a supportive environment for students to learn self-management techniques, bridging the gap for those who may be hesitant to engage in formal counselling. St Leonard’s College has also introduced group programs, enriching the support options available to students.

These initiatives reflect St Leonard’s College’s continued commitment to providing a nurturing and supportive environment where students can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. The College is dedicated to ensuring the holistic growth and happiness of every child during their educational journey.
