Two Independent schools have announced new deputy leaders who will take up their positions at the start of the 2027 school year.

Sydney Church of England Grammar School (Shore) has appointed Stuart McCormack (pictured far right, above) as Deputy Headmaster, while St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School in Brisbane has appointed Lindsay McQuattie as Deputy Principal.

Shore appoints new Deputy Headmaster

Mr McCormack will become Shore’s Deputy Headmaster from Term 1, 2027, following three years as the school’s Head of Students in the Senior School.

He brings more than 20 years’ experience in Independent education, with leadership experience spanning student wellbeing, pastoral care, learning and school operations.

Before joining Shore in 2024, Mr McCormack was Deputy Head of Senior School (Student Wellbeing) and Acting Deputy Principal at Thomas Hassall Anglican College, where he worked from 2015 to 2023. He has also held leadership positions at Richard Johnson Anglican College and Norwest Christian College.

Mr McCormack holds a Master of Education (Leadership) with Excellence from UNSW, as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma in Education from Macquarie University.

The Deputy Headmaster is a new whole-school executive position at Shore. As Headmaster Dr Peter Miller’s delegated second-in-charge, Mr McCormack will support leadership, strategy and daily operations across the school from the Early Learning Centre through to Year 12.

Dr Miller described Mr McCormack as a “trusted and thoughtful leader” with a strong understanding of the Shore community.

Mr McCormack said he looked forward to working with students and staff and partnering with families in his new role.

Ms McQuattie joins St Margaret’s from John Paul College, where she has served as Deputy Principal and a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

At St Margaret’s, Ms McQuattie will contribute to the school’s Strategic Plan 2026–2030 and its focus on preparing students to be confident, compassionate and capable women.
