Toowoomba Anglican School (TAS) is proud to announce Mrs Jane Roper as its new Head of Primary.

Commencing in Term 4, Mrs Roper’s appointment follows an extensive recruitment process, which attracted candidates from across Australia and the globe.

TAS Principal Nick Johnstone said Mrs Roper’s appointment reflects the strength of her experience, character and vision for Toowoomba Anglican School.

“Jane is a highly experienced educational leader with almost three decades of experience across primary, secondary and tertiary education,” Mr Johnstone said.

“She has served TAS as Deputy Head of Primary since 2022, and throughout her career has developed particular expertise in curriculum leadership, instructional coaching and school improvement.”

Before joining TAS, Mrs Roper held senior leadership positions at The Glennie School, including Deputy Head of Junior Years (Teaching and Learning), and Head of English, and she has also lectured in Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of Southern Queensland.

“Since joining TAS, Jane has played an important role in strengthening teaching and learning across our Primary School, leading professional learning and teacher coaching, supporting data-informed teaching practices, and contributing to programs for our high-ability and gifted learners,” Mr Johnstone said.

“Importantly, Jane knows our students, staff and families, understands the distinctive culture of TAS, and shares our commitment to ensuring that every child is known, supported and challenged to achieve their potential.

“Her leadership reflects our school values of Believe, Care, Learn and Thrive, with a strong emphasis on relationships, high expectations, student wellbeing and continuous improvement.

“Jane’s appointment provides valuable continuity for our Primary School as we enter an exciting period of growth, and she is exceptionally well placed to lead our Primary School into its next chapter.”

Toowoomba Anglican School also recently announced that Mr Pat Wysel has been appointed Acting Deputy Head of Primary for Term 4, 2026.

Mr Wysel has been TAS’ School Counsellor, Head of Religious Education and a key member of our Chaplaincy team since 2018.

“Pat is a trusted and highly valued member of the TAS community whose workplaces him at the heart of student wellbeing, pastoral care and the Anglican life of our School,” Mr Johnstone said.

“Pat brings more than 15 years of experience in education, including seven years at Toowoomba Grammar School, across classroom teaching, academic tracking, educational technology, school counselling, religious education and chaplaincy, as well as earlier career experience in human resources.

“His deep understanding of student wellbeing and child safety, combined with his commitment to the Anglican ethos of TAS, will complement Jane’s educational leadership as our new Head of Primary.”
