There has been a sense of quiet excitement across the Trinity Junior School Summer Hill campus this term – an energy that comes when a community steps into a new chapter. As enrolment interest continues to grow, the Junior School is preparing for a thoughtful and well-planned expansion beginning in 2027, opening the doors for more young learners while preserving the close, nurturing environment families value so deeply.
Head of the Junior School, Mr Mark Dunn, describes the coming changes with pride and optimism.
“This is another milestone for our Junior School. We’re growing – but we’re growing with purpose.”
Starting in 2027, Kindergarten will become double-streamed, welcoming two classes of up to 20 students each. The early years (K–2) form the foundation of a growing and more vibrant Junior School, with the upper grades gradually increasing to two and then three classes as the cohorts progress.
Walking through the playground recently, Mr Dunn observed the laughter of students weaving through games and imaginative play: an everyday reminder of what this expansion is really about.
“We’re creating more opportunities for boys to belong, to learn, to grow and flourish together,” he explains. “The heart of our Junior School – the relationships, the care, the joy – remains at the centre of every decision we make.”
Families can expect the same personalised attention, strong International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, academic foundations, and rich co-curricular the Junior School is known for. What changes, Mr Dunn says, is the scale – and the possibilities.
“A slightly larger year group means more opportunities for friendships, stronger collaboration, and more diverse learning experiences. It strengthens the whole community.”
The 2027 Kindergarten cohort will be the first to experience the double-stream model, with projected enrolments of 16–20 students per class. As they progress upward, Years 3 to 6 will expand in step, ensuring continuity and stability at every stage with the current model of two slightly larger classes of 25 boys for Years 3 and 4; and three classes of 25 boys in Years 5 and 6 remaining in place.
The campus team has begun planning meticulously to ensure learning spaces, staffing, and programs grow seamlessly with the student body.
“The future of our Junior School is bright,” Mr Dunn reflects. “We’re ready – and we’re excited – to welcome more families into our story.”
