Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School is delighted to share that Year 12 student Jasmine Lancaster Merton has been named the winner of ABC TV’s Portrait Artist of the Year (Season 2), a remarkable achievement that has earned her national recognition for her artistic talent and creativity.
Throughout the highly competitive series, Jasmine impressed judges and audiences alike with her exceptional technical skill, artistic vision and ability to capture the character and personality of her subjects. Competing against talented artists from across Australia, she consistently demonstrated the creativity, dedication and professionalism that ultimately secured her the title.
Head of School, Diana Drummond said the school community was thrilled by Jasmine’s success.
“We are incredibly proud of Jasmine and all she has achieved. Winning Portrait Artist of the Year is an extraordinary accomplishment and reflects her exceptional talent, hard work and commitment to her art. Jasmine has represented our school with distinction, and she is a wonderful role model for aspiring young artists.”
Jasmine described the experience as both challenging and rewarding.
“Taking part in the competition pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me grow as an artist. Winning the title is an incredible honour, and I’m grateful for the support of my family, teachers and the entire school community throughout the journey.”
Jasmine’s achievement highlights her natural born talents, family support for her artistic and educational journey, as well as the strength of the visual arts program atGlenaeon.
As Jasmine completes her final year of schooling, she looks forward to pursuing further opportunities in the arts while continuing to develop her distinctive artistic practice.
