Class of 2020 HSC Achievement

Four Top 10 in Course in NSW and four Premier’s All Rounder Award recipients are among Roseville College’s strong HSC outcomes following the release of ATAR results

The college announces four premier’s All Round Achievers: College Vice Captain, Mari Watkins, and Prefects Anastasia Kwan, Claudia Petrie and Mia Rakhit.

The College is pleased to announce Mari Watkins as the 2020 College Dux and HSC Dux. Mari, who aims to study law and international security, admits that while 2020 challenged students in ways they didn’t expect, it also forced them to focus on what was important and personally motivating, and to think creatively about their future.

“Roseville afforded me diverse opportunities to be challenged, to grow and to excel at school. My teacher’s high expectations pushed me at every turn to refine my skills, and I thank them for that significant influence,” she says.

The college cemented its strength in Food Technology, placing 1st in Course for the second time in four years. Alexandra van der Laan de Vries placed 1st in Course, with classmate Catherine Ashworth placing 2nd. The college also achieved 4th and 9th in NSW in Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) to Isabel McCarthy and Claudia Petrie, respectively. These results advance the College’s reputation for health and wellbeing, and demonstrate the school’s commitment to rigorous application in these fields of study. Additional Top 40 places were achieved in Science Extension, Japanese Extension, French Extension, Ancient History and Design & Technology.

“These results reflect outstanding achievement by graduates across all subject areas, with 34 per cent of the cohort achieving an ATAR of 95.00 or above, and an impressive 63 per cent achieving an ATAR of 90.00 or above. This is proportionally very high given only 17 per cent of all HSC candidates scored above 90.00 this year,” explains principal,  Ms Deb Magill.

“I am delighted to announce that the cohort received an incredible 268 pre-ATAR University Early Admission Offers, which reflects that Roseville College graduates are highly regarded by leading universities for their ability, character and service record during their time at our school. Congratulations Class of 2020,” she says.
