Bringing a full-length stage musical to life takes dedication, teamwork and countless hours of hard work. Over 15 weeks and 86 hours of rehearsals, Thomas Carr College’s cast of 50 performers poured their energy, commitment and passion into creating the magic of Mary Poppins. Every moment on stage reflected the perseverance, creativity and enthusiasm of the students involved, transforming months of preparation into a truly memorable theatrical experience.
Performed to sold-out audiences in July 2026, Thomas Carr College’s annual production welcomed more than 1,000 guests across two nights and three magical performances. Audiences were invited to step beyond Cherry Tree Lane and into a world where the impossible becomes possible – a joyful adventure filled with wonder, laughter, imagination and a touch of theatrical magic.
For many students, Mary Poppins marked their first experience in musical theatre. Learning to sing, dance and act simultaneously is no small feat, yet the cast embraced every challenge with courage and determination. Throughout the rehearsal process, students not only developed their performance skills but also discovered the true magic of theatre: building confidence, forming friendships, expressing creativity and growing as young artists.
The production’s central message, “Anything can happen if you let it,” resonated deeply throughout the company. Through hard work and dedication, students transformed into the beloved characters of Mary Poppins while also gaining valuable life skills, learning to take risks, work collaboratively and believe in their own potential.
This remarkable production was made possible through the support and dedication of many individuals. Sincere thanks go to the families who supported their children throughout rehearsals, costume fittings and performances. The College also acknowledges the outstanding commitment of the production team, including Co-Directors Salvatore Gulinello and Matthew Morse, Producer and Vocal Director Natasha Mateus, Choreographer Bree Kent and Assistant Choreographer Sarah Taylor. Appreciation is also extended to Pam Diaz, Lily Kovac, the Technology, Art and Maintenance teams, and the many makeup artists, dressers, stagehands and crew members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
