A school for everyone

Macquarie Grammar School

Macquarie Grammar School is a unique educational setting as Sydney CBD’s only independent, secular, and fully comprehensive co-educational secondary school.

The school serves domestic and international students with a strong EAL/D focus. Our central location allows access to learning experiences at museums, historical sites, university facilities and Sydney’s scenic open spaces where PDHPE and school Sport is conducted. This access means that learning activities are immediate, ‘real-world’ and highly engaging.

At Macquarie Grammar School, we believe that education is not only about achieving strong academic results but about shaping young people who demonstrate discipline, integrity, responsibility, and purpose. In a school community as diverse and dynamic as ours – particularly with many students learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) – the partnership between school and home is essential. We have strong relationships between parents, homestay families, guardians and ethnic community groups. Our motto is, Learn with Virtue, Lead with Truth.

We also value a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of team sports. As the 2025 and 2026 Champions in the Independent School Sports Competition (ISD) in volleyball and 2026 runners-up in basketball, we see our students grow in confidence and display a sense of loyalty to their peers.

School camps and excursions to the beach for team sports feature on our learning calendars, where memories are made, friendships deepen and teamwork is fostered. We are always eager to share the exciting moments that bring our students together and help them grow. In Term 4, our students attended a school camp, and from their smiles, laughter, and animated stories afterwards, it was clear the experience touched them deeply.

The implementation of our Student Wellbeing and Engagement Strategy, centred on our shared vision of “Every Student Present, Prepared and Participating,” has established a strong foundation for the year ahead and built a sense of belonging. This extends to others and into our connection with the wider community. Macquarie Grammar Students serve the community in major fund-raising events and volunteer locally.
