Study survival guide

With only one term to go until the summer holidays it is natural that the motivation to study has started to dwindle. We give you our top 5 tips to surviving through the final months of study.
  1.  Stay Balanced – Make sure you balance your study load, extra curricular activities and social life so you don’t feel too overwhelmed by allocating time for each activity in your diary.
  2. Create a space – To avoid distraction make sure you set yourself up to study away from the TV room, kitchen and other noisy areas. This will help you stay focused and enhance your ability to absorb and understand the information you are learning.
  3. Make time – To avoid falling behind set aside some time to study everyday rather than blocking out a whole day and cramming in hours of study in one go. Not only will this seem daunting but you won’t get as much out of it in comparison to consistent study.
  4. Take a break – Every 45 minutes get up and move around, get a drink of water and go to the toilet. This will not only refresh your mind and body but make the study time seem more achievable. Set a timer so you know when to get to get up.
  5. Find comfort – Find something that helps keep you calm and focused which you can take with you to exams. This could be a favorite pen or a piece of comfortable clothing. By making these habits you can start to teach your mind and body that when you pick up that pen or put on that jumper it is time to focus.
