WYNNUM STATE HIGH SCHOOL

Wynnum State High School is a co-educational school located in the Bayside District of the city of Brisbane. Since opening in March 1942, Wynnum High has maintained a very proud tradition of quality educational programs supported by excellent teachers and continued student successes.

Its mission is to build an educationally challenging and distinctive school, where PROUD learning, PERSONALISED learning and CONNECTED learning are its daily core business. Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 10: Key learning areas – Mathematics, English and Science. From Year 10 Students choose 3 units from either LOTE, Technology, The Arts, HPE, SOSE (One per KLA).

Subjects/Electives Years 11 and 12: All students must complete an English and Maths course of study over the 2 years. They are able to choose 4 other subjects. Many opportunities exist for school based apprenticeships and traineeships as well.

Welfare and personal development: Chaplain, Guidance Officer, Indigenous Education Worker, Special Education Program and Youth Health Nurse. 

Special features: Academic Excellence Program, Sports Development Program, Instrumental Music Development Program.
