WAIKERIE HIGH SCHOOL


At Waikerie High School, they believe that education is a vital part of a young person’s life. That development of strong relationships between staff and students is a key aspect of schooling. This combined with close links to families and the community allow the pursuit of excellence and positive outcomes to be achieved.

The school offers a contemporary program based in traditional values, with the aim being to provide opportunities for all students to achieve success in a wide range of areas.

Staff are encouraged to update their knowledge of teaching and learning practice and the current research on how young people learn most efficiently.

A broad curriculum is offered with an extensive extra curricular program being made available for students to pursue areas of interest and ability.

Facilities: Site of approximately 8.86 hectares, Agriculture areas, Sporting facilities.

Electives Years 8 to 9: Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, Visual Arts, Metalwork, Drama, Electronics, Music, Home Economics, Information Technology and Multimedia, Information Technology, Multimedia, Language.

Electives Years 10 to 12: English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education, History, Personal Learning Plan (PLP)

Sport: Swimming Carnivals, Athletics Days and Cross Country events, Physical Education, Water Sports.

Extracurricular activities: Music tuition, Art Gallery programmes, Drama performances, Riverland Women’s Health Groups, SAPOL. 

Welfare and personal development: The school has a Christian Pastoral Support Worker (10hrs per week), Social Worker, Homegroup teachers.
