ST PETERS LUTHERAN COLLEGE

St Peters Lutheran College consists of three campuses — Indooroopilly, Springfield (near Ipswich) and Ironbark (near Crow’s Nest). Indooroopilly campus has four sub-schools — Junior, Middle, Junior and Senior High — each with its own head of school. The College motto “Ever Higher” is interpreted as striving for excellence in all things.

Facilities: Facilities include multiple computer labs, resource centres, and a technology centre used for graphics, technical studies, fashion studies and hospitality. Sporting facilities include three ovals, gymnasium, a weights room, two swimming pools, multi-purpose courts (indoor and outdoor) for netball, basketball and tennis. Multiple cricket wickets include turf, artificial turf and concrete.

Curriculum: A strong academic program spans all year levels with a wide range of subjects on offer, including Business, Vocational and Physical Education, Film and Television. There are almost 40 subjects available for Years 11 and 12. The curriculum caters for preparatory to Year 12. St Peters also offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma from Year 11.

Sport: St Peters is a member of the Associated Independent Colleges (for boys) and the Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association. The college competes in the south-east Queensland Lutheran Colleges competition for swimming, cross-country and athletics (the Combined Independent Colleges). Junior and secondary students also have opportunities for regional and state selection for sport through the metropolitan west zone. The secondary school boys also participate in AIC interschool competitions across many mainstream sports.

Additionally, St Peters has sailing, water polo, equestrian and swim clubs, all based at the college. Rowing is also offered.

Extracurricular activities: St Peters has an internationally-based music program including chorale, choirs, orchestras, concert and stage bands, chamber groups, and a wind symphony. All music groups perform regularly at major local venues nationally and internationally. Numerous non-music options include arts extension programs, theatre, drama, debating, chess, rainforest projects, public speaking, community service, among others.

Welfare and personal development: The college has a team of chaplains, student counsellors and a careers co-ordinator.

Special features: St Peters Indooroopilly has a 23-hectare campus close to the Brisbane CBD. The Outdoor Education Centre “Ironbark” — a working farm property — comprises some 700-hectares. A levy applies for the Ironbark stay, currently in Year 9.
