NANANGO STATE HIGH SCHOOL


Established in 1982 Nanango State High School is a small rural secondary high school of about 500 students. Nanango has a proud tradition in both curricula and extra curricula activities. The school has modern facilities that allow students to experience many ‘real world’ experiences at school. There is also a laptop program for senior students and the school has excellent Information communication technology (ICT) facilities. The school prides itself on providing individual programs for all students.

Facilities: Trade training centre, SEP department, multi-purpose covered sporting area, community hall, computer labs, science labs, tuckshop, student services.

Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 10: Core Subjects – English, Maths, Science, Study of Society and Environment (SOSE). Elective subjects – Authority Prep, Ancient History, Business Communication & Technologies Prep (BCT), Computer Education, Design Automation Technology (DAT), Drama, Engineering Metal Prep –Shop B, Home Economics, Hospitality Prep, Legal Studies Prep, Manufacturing Wood Prep – Shop A, Physical Education (Extension), Rural Practices, Technology Studies Prep, Visual Art.

Subjects/Electives Years 11 and 12: Authority subjects – Ancient History, Biological, Science, Business Communication & Technologies, Chemistry, Drama, Economics, English, Geography, Home Economics, Legal Studies, Mathematics A*, Mathematics B, Physical Education, Physics, Technology Studies, Visual Art.

Authority Registered subjects – Agricultural, Early Childhood Studies, English Communication, Hospitality, Information & Communications Technology (ICT,) Pre-vocational Mathematics, Recreation, Science in Practice, Visual Art Studies (VAS).

Vocational Education & Training – Business Studies, Certificate II in Business Engineering, Certificate I in Engineering Manufacturing, Certificate II in Manufacturing Technology

Sport: Volleyball, Rugby League and Netball plus Equestrian team.

Extracurricular activities: Kingaroy Eisteddfod, biennial FANFARE competition, ANZAC Day ceremonies, district music camps, SPOTS Concert and community events.

Welfare and personal development: School Chaplain, Guidance Officer, School Nurse.
