MOUNT COMPASS AREA SCHOOL

Mount Compass is located 59 Kms from Adelaide GPO. It is centrally placed on the Fleurieu Peninsula being approximately equidistant from Strathalbyn, Goolwa, Port Elliot, Victor Harbor, Yankalilla, Aldinga and McLaren Vale.

Mount Compass Area School has been at its present site since 1934. It became an Area School in 1962. Rapid enrolment increases in the 1980’s saw a redevelopment of the school and the addition of Year 12 in 1988. It is now a comprehensive community school with significant numbers of students enrolled from neighbouring districts.

Facilities: Trade Training Centre, air conditioning, Gymnasium, Home Economics Centre, Design and Technology Studies Centre, wetland boardwalk for Agricultural and Environmental studies,

Electives Years 7 to 10: Mentor Program with Flinders University.

Electives Years 11 and 12: Chemistry, Physics and Specialist Maths. Vocational courses support students to gain skills in and develop understanding of personal and team responsibility, the importance of a strong work ethic and personal excellence.

Sport: SAPSASA and SSASSA teams, School Sports Day.

Extracurricular activities: Readers Cup, Work Experience, Writing/Poetry competitions, Led Steer Competition
