MILLICENT HIGH SCHOOL


Millicent High School prides itself on building long-lasting positive relationships through quality education and pathways for all students in a broad range of curriculum areas.

Founded in 1928, the school is based on the eastern outskirts of Millicent. The Millicent Campus of the South East Institute of TAFE is co-located on our school grounds.

Millicent is located 412kms south-east of Adelaide, 469kms west of Melbourne. Millicent is centrally located in the middle of the Wattle Range Council area, 50kms from Penola and 36kms from Beachport.

Facilities: Campus with TAFE SA, Vocational and Flexible Learning Options, Senior Secondary options with VET accreditation to courses such as Hospitality, Engineering, Retailing, Doorways to Construction, Automotive and Textiles/Fashion; Aboriginal meeting place and garden with strong links to local community and curriculum programs; Student Behaviour Management Policy and Procedures; Agricultural facilities for plant and animal studies; School Hall/Gymnasium and extensive playing fields; access for physically disabled students.

Electives Years 8 to 10: Art and Design, School Band, Music, Dance, Drama, Photography, Heath and Physical Education, Home Economics, Child Studies, Physical Education, Basketball Focus, Sport and Recreation, Humanities, History, Geography, PLP, SOSE, Science, Agriculture, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Information Technology.

Sport: Football, Softball, Baseball, Croquet, Hockey, Tennis, Cricket, Squash, Bowls, Pony, Basketball, Gliding, Soccer, Netball, Badminton, Gym. Golf, Water skiing, sailing, sail boarding, diving and other water sports are available.

Extracurricular activities: Forestry, Native Plant Propagation, Native Fish Breeding program, Permaculture Garden, Aboriginal meeting place and garden program, Australian Maths Competition, Australian Secondary Schools Science competitions, English competitions, Maths Challenge, Student Exchanges, School Drama and Musical Productions, School Band, Student Representative Council, Athletics, Pedal Prix Team, Work Experience and Work Placement, Sport Exchanges, Lions Youth of the Year Quest, Debating and Public Speaking, Dance Program.

Welfare and personal development: There are 2 student counsellors, Literacy and Numeracy intervention, Christian Pastoral Support Worker, Pastoral Care, Student Behaviour Management manager, Speech Pathologist, Community Mentoring Program, SACE Completion program.
