KINGSTON COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Kingston is a Reception to Year 12 school located in the Limestone Coast District.

While there have been schools in the district for over 125 years, Kingston Community School was opened in 1986 in the grounds of Gall Park, the focus of recreation for the local community.

Kingston Community School offers a diverse range of subject offerings, where preparation for both tertiary study and the world of work are both afforded equal status. South Australian Certificate of Education results consistently exceed state averages and there is a strong tradition of students gaining access to high demand university courses.

Year 10 Students study English, Mathematics, Science, Society and Environment, and two other subjects from a number on offer including Information Processing, Art/Design, Agriculture, Physical Education, Home Economics, Furniture Construction, Maritime Studies, Music, German, Welding, Concrete and Masonry, Power Technology. Students in Year 10 also undertake the Personal Learning Plan (PLP) as part of SACE.

Electives Years 11 and 12: Year 11 The following subjects are offered and run dependent on student choices each year: Art/Design, Geography, German, Politics, Modern History, Work Education, Child Studies, Food and Hospitality, Independent Living Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Furniture Construction, Internal Combustion Engines, Mathematics, Physics, Welding and Fabricating, Concreting, Digital Publishing, Personal Publishing, Physical Education, Aquaculture. Year 12 The following subjects are offered and run dependent on student choices each year: Art Practical, Visual Arts Studies, Australian History, English Communications, English Studies, Geography Studies, Australian and International Politics, Design Practical, Early Childhood Studies, Food and Hospitality, German, Community Studies Aquaculture, Agriculture, Automotive Maintenance, Biology, Maths Applications, Chemistry, Furniture Construction, Physical Education, Physics, Mathematical Studies, Welding, Vocational Studies, Business Documents, Desk Top Publishing, Community Studies.

Sport: Jump Rope for Heart, SAPSASA, SASSSA, Sports Day, Interschool Sports Day, Cross Country Run, Aquatics, Tennis, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Netball, Golf, Bowls, Table Tennis, Basketball, Triathlon, Callisthenics, Aquatics, Swimming, Fishing and Athletics Training. Community Archery, the old school oval, the Golf Course and the town Bowling Green facilities.

Extracurricular activities: SAPSASA and SASSA sport, school camps, Community School Week activities, School Band, School Choir, Jump Rope, Instrumental Music, Agriculture Led Steer Competition Constitutional Convention for Stage 1 Politics Students Dance, Debating, German Exchange Programme, Music – Choir, Concert Band, Instrumental Music, Vocal Groups Musical Production Rock and Water Work Experience.
