HELENSVALE STATE HIGH SCHOOL

Founded in 1990, Helensvale State High School is a co-educational state school which caters for approximately 2400 students from Year 7 to Year 12. The school consists of two phases – junior high (Years 7 to 9) and senior phase (Years 10, 11 and 12). A real strength of the school is the diversity of curriculum offerings that are provided for students. The school also has a strong reputation within the community for its Excite academic excellence, sport excellence, arts excellence, and Japanese excellence programs which provide outstanding opportunities for students with the ability and drive to excel in their chosen fields of study.

The school recognises the link between wellbeing and learning and the social, emotional, academic and physical welfare of students is of upmost importance. Its new SWeLL (student wellbeing and e-learning lounge) centre is a hub of learning and wellbeing in the community, where students can be supported by a variety of support services.

Sport: AFL Excellence, Netball Excellence, Rugby Union Excellence, Soccer Excellence, Touch Football Excellence, Track and Field Excellence.

Welfare and personal development: SWeLL (student wellbeing and e-learning lounge) centre, chaplains, industry liaison officer (ILO), guidance officers and school-based Youth Health Nurse.

Special features: Helensvale is a member of the Gold Coast international schools alliance and offers international students the opportunity to experience many programs and the chance to learn about Australian lifestyle and culture. Students can choose from a number of programs including Senior schooling/university pathways program, Middle schooling program, and Study abroad programs (short term) – 3 months; 6 months; 12 months. Helensvale Specialist Excellence Program includes Art Excellence, Dance Excellence, Drama Excellence, Music Excellence. Excellence in Language includes Japanese Excellence.
