GOLDEN GROVE HIGH SCHOOL

Golden Grove High School is a comprehensive co-educational public secondary school enrolling students from Year 8 to Year 12. The school is part of the Golden Grove Secondary Schools’ Campus, a unique consortium of three schools, public and private. Our partner schools are Gleeson College and Pedare Christian College. Each school is independent of the others but each school is able to access the campus shared facilities and the schools collaborate to offer students in Year 11 and Year 12 an exceptionally wide curriculum choice within world class facilities.

Golden Grove High School is committed to providing a challenging and relevant curriculum that promotes lifelong learning. The school works with students to produce responsible, resilient and independent critical thinkers and learners who act ethically and confidently in their personal, career and community life. High academic achievement is a priority and High Order Thinking Skills are explicitly taught.

Golden Grove High School is a public comprehensive co-educational secondary school sharing a campus with Pedare Christian College (Uniting Church/Anglican) and Gleeson College (Catholic). The three campus schools have their own philosophies, identities, buildings and management but share some specialist buildings and sporting and cultural facilities. The schools work cooperatively in the sharing of facilities and some learning. Senior staff members conduct regular meetings to administer the shared arrangements.

Facilities: Golden Grove Library and bookroom, canteen and Access Centre, lift for wheelchair access, The Dame Roma Mitchell Centre (Performing Arts Theatre, Lecture Theatres and other activity areas), oval, outdoor courts, The Golden Arts and Recreation Centre gymnasium, catering and theatre areas, Trade Training Centre, state-of-the-art Electronics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Psychology laboratories, specialist ICT laboratories, large Design & Technology suite, music suite and Multi-Media Studio, Home Economics suite, Thiele Library, Visual Arts Studio, Uniform Shop.

Subjects/ Electives Years 8 and 9: Learning Areas – Arts, Design and Technologies, English, Health and Physical Education, Languages, Mathematics, Science, Humanities.

Sport: SSSSA activities, VISTA competition, state-wide knockout events and 30 Vista Zone carnivals.

 

Extracurricular activities: Dance Performances, Campus Open Evening, Global Dance Convention, Winter Concert, Music Performances, Campus Open Evening, Mt Gambier Jazz Festival, Primary Schools Tour, Year 7 Information Night, Technical Theatre Program.
