ELLISTON AREA SCHOOL


Elliston Area School is a small rural school in the Eyre and Western Region on the Eyre Peninsula. It is located on the Flinders Highway, approximately 170km from Pt Lincoln and 125km from Streaky Bay and 687km, from Adelaide.

Opened in 1921 to meet the educational requirements of local communities, Elliston Area School has a long history of educational success and innovative learning.

Elliston Area School offers an exciting learning environment for students from Reception to Year 12. The school has close links to the Kindergarten, the Elliston RSL Memorial Children’s Centre.

The school is an important social centre and meeting place for the local community with sports, cultural and fundraising events occurring through the year.

Parents, students and staff are proud of their school. Achievement and participation is encouraged and success is acknowledged by the whole community.

Facilities: The school is set amongst picturesque grounds with well cared for playing fields and playground and is opposite the town oval, courts, sports complex and hall.

Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 10: English, Maths, History, Science, Health and PE, Food and Hospitality, Music, Spanish, Arts and Technology.

Extracurricular activities: Music lessons, fundraising and enterprise activities, Woolshow, Sculptures on the Cliffs, Harmony Day.

Welfare and personal development: Extensive support is available from trained teaching staff and from school service officers for Students with Disabilities, special learning needs and individual behaviour management.

Special features: The School has a significant emphasis on Food and Hospitality and with regular catering across the school and wider community.
