East Hills Girls Technology High, while honouring its heritage and traditions, is future focused. The school’s comprehensive Student Support Programs focus on allowing students to experience success and provide students with the skills and resilience to become confident learners. The school employs a range of extension and support programs, including pet and art therapies, to cater for the special needs of gifted students and the needs of those with learning difficulties. Very successful programs, such as Primary Links and the East Hills Community of Schools, link the school with its local primary schools to facilitate transition from Year 6 to high school and for staff to work together on school initiatives in both Literacy and Numeracy. 

 

International students are welcomed. The school has an excellent reputation for high student achievement in academic, creative and physical studies. A number of courses provide structured work experience and work placement, which are acknowledged by employer groups. The school, staff and students have received many prestigious awards. These include three Director-General’s Awards for Girls Education, Technology Education and Student Engagement and Retention. The school has been named as one of the eight NSW Department of Education STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Action Schools.

 

Facilities: The school stands on landscaped grounds and has a large, well-equipped library with a multimedia room and an interactive classroom, computer laboratories, a video production unit, photography laboratory, gymnasium and specialist rooms for technological studies, sciences, creative arts and drama. The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre provides students with access to sophisticated technology at an industry standard. There is wheelchair access throughout the school.

 

Sport: A program of sporting participation is maintained by the provision of integrated, recreational and competitive knock-out sports, including a variety of traditional sports and individual leisure activities such as Zumba, fitness circuit training, ice skating, aerobics, squash, laser skirmish, mini golf, badminton, rock climbing, flip out, tennis and tenpin bowling. The school has been involved in the Premier’s Sporting Challenge to enhance students’ physical fitness.

 

Extracurricular activities: The school offers a diverse range of activities that include coding, debating, band, choir, drama, dance and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme to cater for the interests of students. Excursions, work experience and industry links support and extend innovative classroom experiences.
