COWELL AREA SCHOOL


Cowell Area School was originally established as a primary school in 1892. It shifted to its present site in 1912 and became a higher primary school in 1930. The school was granted area school status in 1961. The school currently provides enriching learning opportunities for students from Reception to Year 12. A dedicated team of teachers support learning across wide ranging curriculum.

Facilities: Admin/Library Building, multi-purpose building (Home to Home Ec, Science, Art, Local Delivery, Conference Room), rotunda, school oval, Middle School and Secondary yard area, amphitheatre, Tech Studies and Aquaculture buildings, general learning areas (Home to Middle School and Senior School main classrooms).

Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 9: English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Design & Technology, Home Economics, Design, Art, Aquaculture/Seafood, Health & Physical Education.

Subjects/Electives Year 10: Mathematics, English, Science, History, Geography, Art, Design, Health & Physical Education, Home Economics and Child Studies, Tech Studies, Seafood and Aquaculture, Personal Learning Plan.

Subjects/Electives Years 11 and 12: Mathematics (Numeracy, Pathways, Applications, Methods and Studies), English (Studies, Communications), Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Scientific Studies), History and Geography, Art and Design, Health and Physical Education, Home Economics and Child Studies, Tech Studies, Seafood and Aquaculture, Research Project, Community Studies, School Based Apprenticeships, VET Programs

Sport: Sports day, swimming carnival, school sport.

Extracurricular activities: Interschool Sports (Athletics), Instrumental Music (Private), Dance (Private), Science Week, Academic competitions, Camps and various excursions.
