CLEVE AREA SCHOOL

Supporting the needs of students R-12 is a high priority of teaching and learning at Cleve Area School. This is underpinned through Early Intervention, Gross Motor Skills Co-ordination, Learning Assistance, Career Education, Middle School, Special Education, Gifted and Talented identification, Student Learning Project, Writing Based Literacy Assessment programmes and Vocational Education Training (VET).

Despite the relative isolation of Cleve from Adelaide and major centres, the school community is able to access support agencies, specialist centres and cultural programmes. Twenty one percent are school card holders, however, in reality this figure is significantly higher due to the impact of rural poverty and reliance on fluctuating farming incomes. The Country Areas Programme provides funds to support the learning, cultural and social activities of students.

The school community values the contribution of parents and students to decision making processes. The School Council, Class Parent Liaison Network, Student Representative Council and Parents and Friends Association play a very active role in school improvement programmes. Parents play a valuable role in facilitating student access to these programmes.

The school’s commitment to student learning is highlighted by the Student Learning Project, which is a partnership involving the school, parents, students and local general practitioners. This project is able to access support assistance and funds normally not available to the school community. This project has been acknowledged at a state level for the excellent work it does with students.
