CEDUNA AREA SCHOOL

Students enrolled at Ceduna Area School come from a wide geographic area and varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. The school is geographically isolated and approximately 27 per cent of students travel by bus each day. The school is divided into three sub schools – Junior School (Reception to Year 5), Middle School (Years 6 to 9) and Senior Secondary (Years 10 to 13).

Facilities: Set in a landscaped environment of 9.2 hectares on Thevenard Peninsula, hard play area, two ovals, six tennis/netball courts, solar-heated swimming pool, gymnasium on site, air-conditioned classroom, specialist facilities for ICT, Art, Home Economics, Technical and Technology Studies, Science, and Physical Education, five computing areas, Music and Drama complex, Aquaculture facility, canteen.

Subjects/Electives Years 6 to 9: Maths, English, Science and SOSE, Art (Music or Visual Arts), PE & Health and Design and Technology (Tech Studies, Computing, Textiles and Craft). Additional lessons include Personal Development Plan and Be Active.

Subjects/Electives Years 10 and 12: Year 10 compulsory subjects – Maths, English, Science and Studies of Society. Elective subjects – Health/PE, Design and Technology and the Arts.

Sport: Swimming, Cricket, Athletics, Football, Netball, Softball, Soccer and Tennis, Interschool Athletics, Western Area Schools Athletics Carnival, Cross Country, School sports carnivals and swimming carnivals.

Extracurricular activities: Play Days, Transition Days, Peer Support days, Visiting Performers, Music Performances, Christmas Concert, Cultural Awareness Week, Presentation Night, VibeAlive, camps and excursions and whole school assemblies.

Welfare and personal development: Special Education support, MultiLit programs, Guided Reading, Intervention programs and Quicksmart Maths programs, pastoral care program, personal learning plan, be active fitness programs, Buddy Classes.

Special features: Transition program for Year 7 and 8 students, Vocational education and training (VET), school-based apprenticeships.
