Browns Plains State High School is located 24 kilometres south of Brisbane city on the corner of Ivor Street and Waller Road. Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 10: Students study English, Maths, Science, SOSE, Literacy, and Indonesian. Electives include HPE, Home Economics, Design Technology, Music, Art, Drama, Dance and Media.

Electives Years 11 and 12: Students study a range of Authority (OP) subjects and participate in a comprehensive Queensland Core Skills (QCS) preparation program to help them achieve the best results by the end of Year 12.

Overall Position Pathway (OP) – Designed for students who wish to study at University post Year 12.

Personal Pathway (PP) – Designed for students who are seeking direct entry into TAFE or are hoping to commence a School-based Traineeship or Apprenticeship. Students choosing this pathway are eligible for a Tertiary Selection Rank and are encouraged to sit the QCS Test.

Industry Pathway (IP) – Designed for students who wish to go into the world of work on completion of Year 12. This pathway is certificate driven and students develop the skills required to become ‘work ready’. Students may undertake a School-based Traineeship/Apprenticeship in this pathway.

All senior students at Browns Plains High School work towards the achievement of their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) by the end of Year 12.
