Electives Years 7 to 10: English, Social science, Japanese, Health and physical education, Science, Mathematics, The Arts and instrumental music, Information processing and technology, Business services, Design Technology.

Electives Years 11 and 12: Years 11 and 12 are able to tailor their course of study to develop the knowledge, skill and techniques necessary to achieve Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). By utilising an individualised approach through the Student Education and Training Plan process (SET P) students select a combination of 6 subjects which shape their pathways to achieve a QCE and tertiary entrance score (OP), vocational pathway or a combination of both. This combination allows students to invest in knowledge that interests them and provides them with the best opportunities for their future career pathways.
Sport: Interschool sport, junior secondary sport, senior secondary sport, district, regional and national sporting trials.
Extracurricular activities: Music studies, sustainable futures program, debating, student representative council, computer and internet. Welfare and personal development: In the context of ongoing school improvement Bracken Ridge State High School has implemented the John Fleming `Explicit Instruction Model` as a ‘whole of school’ pedagogical framework. All teachers align their teaching delivery to this framework to ensure all classroom instruction is intentional, consistent, sequential and structured.
