ST PAUL’S COLLEGE

St Paul’s College is a Christian day and boarding school following the widely respected values and traditions of Lutheran Schooling. The spirit and mission of St Paul’s is described by its “four pillars”; (1) Christian education, (2) a safe and caring community, (3) quality education, and (4) country goodness. The college is situated in the beautiful rural area of Walla Walla, approximately 40 kilometres north of the cities of Albury-Wodonga.

Facilities: Classrooms and specialist learning areas including a new Technics centre; extensive sporting facilities including ovals, gymnasium, tennis courts, basketball courts; the college farm (92 hectares), the equine centre (including stables, paddocks, dressage arenas); and boarding facilities that include boys’ and girls’ dormitories, the dining room and health centre.

Electives Years 7 to 10: Agriculture, Equine Studies, Industrial Technology, Food Technology, Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Theatre Studies, Photography and Digital Media.

Electives Years 11 and 12: Mathematics (including extension studies), General Mathematics, Advanced English (including extension studies), Standard English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Art, Drama, Music, Modern History, Business Studies, Geography, PDHPE, Industrial Technology, Agriculture, Primary Industries, Equine Studies, Studies of Religion and Hospitality. Additional subjects can be studied by distance education.

Sport: There are many sporting choices, including a strong house-based competition at lunchtimes, weekly sport and equine sports (also taught as a course endorsed by the NSW Board of Studies). Full boarders have the opportunity to compete in local sporting competitions on the weekend.

Extracurricular activities: Public speaking, debating, sheep and cattle showing and judging, chess, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, participation in a wide range of school representative sports, equine events and house-based competitions.

Welfare and personal development: Pastoral care is centred on care groups where students remain in the same group for the duration of their schooling. Care group teachers are assisted by the welfare team including the Director of Students, college pastor and the college nurses. Peer support programs, camps, and programs such as “Rock and Water”, “Shine” and “Strength” exist to support the personal development of students. Boarding staff are employed specifically to work in the boarding environment.

Special features: Opportunities to specialise in Agricultural or Equine studies supported by the college farm, White Suffolk Stud and the Equine Centre.
