SOUTH COAST CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

Founded in 1978, the South Coast Christian College motto is “Nurturing Children, Empowering Youth, Proclaiming Christ”. South Coast Christian College aims to provide Christ-centred quality education in a family atmosphere and to equip students for ongoing learning, Christian living and service.

Facilities: Hall/gymnasium; Art, Science, Design & Technology and Food Technology facilities; computers; Middle School Complex; Outdoor Learning Centre; classrooms; oval and basketball court.

Curriculum: Primary (Prep to Grade 5): Classroom teachers are responsible for the core subjects of Mathematics, English, General Studies and Biblical Studies. PE and Sport, LOTE and Information Technology are provided by specialists. A class-based music program is run for grades Prep to 4 and PMP (Perceptual Motor Skills Program) for Grade Prep to 2. All students have adequate access to computers. Middle (Grade 6 to Year 8): Grade 6 to Year 8 are provided with a unique program which gradually introduces students to an increasing range of specialist staff and facilities, while retaining the stability and security of spending at least two periods every day with a home-room teacher for core subjects. Year 9 to 12: Subjects have been chosen to provide a broad but solid preparation for the specialised teaching provided in Year 11 and 12 VCE programs. A careful program of careers education is supported by a well-developed work experience program. The Year 10 students are kept fully advised on matters relating to VCE and alternatives in further education.

Sport: South Coast Christian College is a member of the Gippsland Independent Schools Program as well as a local primary schools program. PE and Sport classes are included in the curriculum.

Student welfare programs: South Coast runs “Values for Building Healthy Relationships” and special needs programs. There is a School Chaplain.
