PRESTON GIRLS SECONDARY COLLEGE

Founded in 1928, Preston Girls has a proud tradition of academic excellence in the northern region. The college is located in the centre of Preston and is serviced by tram, train and bus. Each student is encouraged to reach her full potential. Self-discipline, co-operation and tolerance are valued. Strong welfare and discipline programs are well-established.

Facilities: At Preston Girls, students are provided with leading-edge learning technologies. They have upgraded technology facilities to state-of-the-art electronic capacity.

Curriculum: Students study a core curriculum in Years 7. In Years 8 to 10, the curriculum is made up of core and elective subjects catering for student interest and allowing for support and extension units to be provided. There is a tradition of a rich LOTE program, with students given the opportunity to study Mandarin Chinese, Italian or Arabic. A wide range of VCE subjects is offered. The school offers VCAL and VET subjects and is part of a local VET cluster to enhance student choice.

 Extra-curricular activities: Girls are given the opportunity to participate in a range of sports competitions, debating and public speaking activities, rock bands, instrumental music classes, vocal groups, talent quests and the Student Representative Council. Student leadership is valued and many opportunities provided to develop leadership skills.
