GUNGAHLIN COLLEGE

Gungahlin College is a government college for Years 11 and 12
students opening in 2011. Year 11 students will be enrolled in the College in
2011 with Year 12 students to follow in 2012. The new $72.4 million Gungahlin
College accommodates 950 students and includes a CIT learning centre, a joint
college-community library and gymnasium. The college offers a challenging
curriculum in a caring environment to meet the needs of all students. Gungahlin
College is a dynamic, inspiring and nurturing learning community dedicated to
supporting students to achieve their individual potential. An academic rigorous
curriculum meets the needs of students seeking to achieve at the highest level.

The college will offer a wide range of student leadership opportunities.
Personal development programs and community service opportunities will enable
students to become involved in college governance, local and global
communities, developing students as positive contributors to society. Student

Facilities: The college features the latest in sustainable design
and includes flexible learning hubs for students, a media centre with TV and
photography studios, a performing arts theatre with dance and drama studios,
high standard music and arts facilities, a mechatronics suite and computer
networking laboratory as well as a full commercial kitchen and wireless
technology.

The college incorporates a range of environmentally sustainable
design features such as a thermal labyrinth for natural heating and cooling,
extensive use of double glazing and high quality insulation to increase energy
efficiency, and efficient light fittings and small switching zones enabling
lights to be used only where needed.
