Named after the coastal explorer George Bass, this school was
established in 1959.

Facilities: Modern hall, library, learning centre, computer rooms,
art facilities, modern home economics and industrial arts block, drama and
dance studios. The large grounds feature a farm, ovals, basketball courts and
large recreation areas.

Electives Years 9 and 10: Commerce, Agriculture, Computing Studies,
French, Wood and Metal Technics, Technical Drawing, Food Technology, Textiles
Technology, Music, Visual Arts, Drama, Child Studies, Photography, Electronics.

Electives Years 11 and 12: Electives change to meet the needs of
students and range across all levels of English, all levels of Mathematics,
Physics, Biology, Chemistry, General Science, Agriculture, Information Process
Technology, Ancient History, Drama, Legal Studies, Business Studies, Geography,
Economics, Design and Technology (Textiles, Woodwork or Metalwork options),
Engineering Science, Textiles and Design, Food Technology, Hospitality, French,
Music, PD/Health/PE, Sport, Life and Recreation, Visual Arts, Visual Design,
Photography and Videocraft, Business Services, Construction, Information
Technology, Primary Industries — Office.

Extracurricular activities: Debating, dancing, SRC, various sporting

Welfare and personal development: Welfare at Bass High is based on
strong discipline and mutual respect between teachers and students. The school
offers peer support, a student council, work and careers guidance, a Years 7 to
11 camping program, Bass achievers, and a school community involvement program.
Wearing school uniform is compulsory.

Special features: Bass High is supported by an active P&C
council. There is an extensive English-as-a-second-language program provided in
addition to special education.
