St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School in Ascot, Queensland, has appointed Old Girl and experienced educational leader Mrs Nicole Devlin as its next Principal, commencing 1 January 2027.
St Margaret’s School has announced the appointment of Mrs Nicole Devlin as its next Principal, following a national and international search conducted by the School Council.
Mrs Devlin will take over the leadership of the Brisbane school on 1 January 2027, following the retirement of current Principal Ros Curtis AM.
An Old Girl of St Margaret’s, Mrs Devlin has a long-standing connection with the school and extensive experience across both primary and secondary education. She has also worked closely with the school’s boarding community.
She has held senior leadership positions at St Margaret’s, including Dean of Academics and Deputy Principal, and has acted as Principal on several occasions.
The School Council said Mrs Devlin’s commitment to Anglican faith and education, together with her values and vision, aligned strongly with the traditions, culture and philosophy of the Sisters of the Society of the Sacred Advent.
Her leadership experience includes overseeing whole-school initiatives and organisational improvement, with a focus on strategic planning, collaboration and relationships across the school community.
Mrs Devlin’s vision for St Margaret’s is centred on building on the school’s more than 130-year history while embracing innovation, emerging technologies and future-focused learning.
She said she was honoured to be appointed and looked forward to working with students, staff, families, Old Girls and the wider community.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled to be appointed as the next Principal of St Margaret’s,” Mrs Devlin said.
“As an Old Girl and long-serving member of this community, this school holds a very special place in my heart. I have seen firsthand the profound impact a St Margaret’s education can have on the lives of young women.”
Mrs Devlin said she wanted to build on the school’s existing foundations while preparing students for the opportunities of the future.
“By embracing the opportunities of the future, we will ensure that every girl is known, challenged and inspired to become a capable, confident and compassionate young woman who will make a positive difference in the world,” she said.
The School Council said Mrs Devlin’s experience and understanding of St Margaret’s positioned her to lead the school into its next chapter, while maintaining its traditions and Anglican identity.
The school will formally celebrate Mrs Curtis’ contribution later this year and support a transition between the outgoing and incoming Principals.
