Facilities: The spacious landscaped grounds
include a unique wetland nature reserve and many sports fields. Computer
laboratories, extensive library facilities, a music and new performing arts
complex and modern technology workshops support a relevant and innovative
learning environment. A $2m Science Centre has been approved and the college
has been prioritised for further modernisation under the Federal Building
Futures Program.
Curriculum: The curriculum for Years 7 to 12
covers the eight Key Learning Areas and provides a strong background in the
traditional disciplines. French and Chinese, plus a broad range of subjects in
the Arts, Design and Technology are core subjects in Years 7 and 8 and
electives in Year 9. The unique “I can” program at Year 9 aims at improving
student engagement while The Work Experience and Vocational Education programs
at Year 10 have been extended with more use of local business links. VCAL
provides for an alternative pathway for VCE for students in Years 11 and 12.
Year 10 is linked to Years 11 and 12 allowing students to choose one or more
VCE subjects. The college has a strong International Students program. All
students are encouraged to excel. Catering for individual differences is the
school’s first priority and acceleration courses and enrichment classes are offered.
Extra-curricular activities: Instrumental and
vocal music, annual musical and dramatic productions, inter- and intra-school
sport, and a strong camps and outdoor education program are part of an
extensive extra-curricular program.
Student welfare programs: A strong pastoral
care system and a supervised homework program after school. Students are
actively encouraged to take up leadership positions through a House system, the
Student Representative Council and peer support. Parents are closely involved
with their child’s progress and college activities.
