CHINCHILLA STATE HIGH SCHOOL

Chinchilla State High School is centrally located in the south-west region of Queensland, and caters for students in Years 7 to 12.

Chinchilla State High School continues to embody the motto “Learning together for a happy and productive future” and this is regularly reinforced through the school’s TEAM Core values – Together, Excellence, Acceptance and Motivation. The staff members are very enthusiastic in their work and there is a strong focus on student wellbeing, the development of academic excellence and providing a diverse range of learning opportunities for all students.

Chinchilla State High School is a co-educational secondary school of approximately 500 students, located in the Darling Downs, South West region. The school welcomes students from eight partner primary schools in the area and is supported by the Leichhardt House Student Hostel which accommodates up to 30 students from remote areas. Chinchilla State High School offers every student a rich and diverse curriculum complemented by extensive extra-curricular opportunities.

Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 10: Junior secondary students will experience an array of high-quality educational experiences within a dedicated learning space providing students with the skill set required for future success. Chinchilla State High exposes students to state-of-the-art special needs education services, science, technology, arts and recreational facilities. Students access these resources through specialist teachers, who design and implement engaging learning opportunities that meet the diverse needs of each student.

Extracurricular activities: The students are provided access to a breadth of curriculum offerings and numerous opportunities to excel in sporting, cultural and citizenship areas.

Welfare and personal development: Form class teachers, core subject teachers, Year 12 Representatives, mentor program, Year 7 Coordinator, Head of Junior Secondary, Chaplain, Youth Health Nurse, Guidance Officer, Student Welfare Committee (chaired by a Year 12 student).
