WARATAH TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS (CALLAGHAN COLLEGE)

Established in 1907 as Newcastle Boys High School, Waratah Technology Campus has a long tradition in the provision of contemporary secondary education and is now building a caring reputation as a middle schooling, technology-focused campus oriented to meeting the specific needs of early adolescents.

The campus offers a broad, comprehensive curriculum with an emphasis on technological studies, technology knowledge and skills, their application and impact on society, and their use in solving problems.

A number of special programs (acceleration, enrichment, integration and life skills) are offered to meet the needs of all students in an inclusive environment.

Student leadership opportunities are offered and supported. Integrated sports, performing arts and debating programs support student development. Innovative middle school practices include teaming, authentic assessment, learning groups and primary/secondary continuity.
