ROCHEDALE STATE HIGH SCHOOL

Rochedale State High School welcomed two new Year levels (7 & 8) in 2015 and, in preparation for this, has purpose built a Middle School precinct which will enable the delivery of academic excellence programs in a nurturing, state-of-the-art environment.

The many existing quality educational programs at the school including agricultural, marine studies, performing arts, vocational and academic extension programs support the very positive learning environment created and experienced by the students and staff who attend this school. The school’s commitment is to enhance existing and develop additional opportunities and programs to support students in knowledge and competency acquisition in order to maximise future options.

Facilities: State-of-the-art trade training centre, eight fully networked electronic learning laboratories, new science laboratories, 500 strategically located computer clusters supported by mobile laptop pods, multi-purpose community hall, performing arts complex, agricultural farm, film and television editing facilities, modern air-conditioned resource centre with a vast range of print, audio and electronic resources, dance studio, boats and dive equipment for use in marine and aquatic practices, pottery kiln, industry-standard hospitality and dining room facilities, industry-standard engineering and cabinet making workshops, extensive sporting oval and court facilities, access to all buildings and surrounds for students with physical impairments.

Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 10: In Years 7, 8 and 9, students study English, Mathematics, Science, History and sport/co-curricular as core subjects, and select four (4) other subjects from a range of electives including English, Health & Physical Education, Languages other than English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Technology, Visual & Performing Arts.

Welfare and personal development: The Achievement and Development Centre (ADC) provides learning support for students identified as having diverse learning needs.

Special Features: Development programs in the areas of science, technology (including information technology and multimedia, agriculture and marine and aquatic practices), the arts, volleyball and touch. International Student Program.
