Founded by the Christian Brothers in 1836, the college relocated to permanent grounds adjacent to St Mary’s Cathedral in 1992. While setting high academic standards the college provides both a broad curriculum to cater for students seeking tertiary entrance, and training in employment readiness for students intending to enter the workforce on graduation.
Facilities: Fully equipped technics area, computer laboratories, science labs, music rooms, gymnasium, art room, computerised library, audio-visual facilities in every classroom.
Electives: The curriculum offered covers a broad range of both NSW Board-developed and Board-endorsed courses. Students may undertake to complete HSC courses to achieve an ATAR score or the HSC credential, enabling entry to TAFE or other non-University courses. JSST courses are also offered.
Sport: Competitive — rugby league, swimming, cricket, basketball, volleyball, soccer, touch football, athletics, cross-country. Leisure — golf, tennis, weight training, fitness training, tenpin bowling, rock climbing.
Extracurricular activities: Choir, orchestra, debating, public speaking, Mock Trial, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, St. Vincent de Paul. Choristers are particularly important as the school supplies for St Mary’s Cathedral as required. Choral scholarships are available.
Welfare and personal development: Students can attend work experience. A peer support program operates for Junior students. Boys are encouraged to become involved in all aspects of school life, and respect and care for the individual within a Catholic context is the college’s paramount philosophy.
