KINGAROY STATE HIGH SCHOOL

Kingaroy State High is a co-educational high school located approximately 250 km north-west of Brisbane in the South Burnett. The school has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence as well as the provision of a range of vocational education opportunities, and involvement in sport, instrumental and other cultural pursuits. Additionally, the school has an excellent active citizens program where students can become involved in a multitude of volunteer opportunities in the local community.

Facilities: Indoor sports hall (including rock climbing wall, and facilities for basketball, netball, volleyball, badminton, and futsal), Performing arts centre (including sound proofed recording rooms and purpose-built drama, dance and instrumental music rooms), on-site agriculture section, including farming equipment, animals, cropping area, small motors, and wine making facilities, computer facilities – 5 fixed computer labs, multiple mobile laptop trolleys, more than 500 students in years 10, 11 and 12 taking part in the take-home laptop program, special education unit, multipurpose outdoor courts (tennis, netball, basketball, volleyball), sporting ovals, running track and track and field facilities, assembly hall, school canteen operating 5 days a week, Archookoora outdoor education centre, state-of-the-art trade training centres (engineering , construction and catering), P&C-run community auction mart, science laboratories, school gymnasium.

Electives Years 11 and 12: Authority and Authority Registered subjects as well as VET courses in Certificate II in Hospitality, Certificate II in Kitchen Operations, Certificate II in Business, Certificate II in Information, Digital Media and Technology, Certificate I in Construction, Certificate I in Engineering, Certificate I in Skills for Vocational Pathways, Certificate II in Workplace Practices, Certificate I in Access to Vocational Pathways.

Extracurricular activities: Sport, Music, Dance, Duke of Edinburgh, Public speaking and debating, Active citizens (volunteering), other groups such as Geogroup.

Welfare and personal development: Kingaroy State High School subscribes to the anti-bullying program STYMIE.

Special features: Biennial student cultural and sporting trip to New Zealand, as well as one to our sister school in Fudōka, Japan.
